Composite engineered flooring combines a genuine wood face with an engineered supporting core. The maker describes Woodhills as oak or hickory veneer over a waterproof stone-composite base.
What makes the difference
The visible surface is real wood, while the supporting structure differs from an all-wood layered plank. Woodhills’ wood-face thickness and its marketed wear-equivalent rating describe different things; the latter is not a measured vinyl wear-layer thickness.
What changes the price
Evaluate the real-wood face, core, finish, locking system and included pad together. Budget separately for preparation and trim; a waterproof product claim does not describe the entire building assembly.
Origin & identity
A real oak face identifies a material. It does not establish a forest, country of harvest or factory location.
